What Causes Condoms to Break During Sex - HIV Doctor Vinod Raina
Why does one break a condom?
Condoms are not perfect they're not even 100 percent
efficient, so indeed, they break sometimes. It is generally due to friction,
according to Dr. Vinod Raina, which is a problem because sex is like. 80
percent friction when you think about it. There's obviously nothing you can do
about that, so if you don't use the right lubrication, or if there's not enough
lube, the situation could be made worse.
Often it just happens by chance, actually. Sometimes, it
actually just happens by chance, However, to decrease the chance of breakage,
there are steps you may take.
How do I avoid the breakage of my condom?
Don't worry, if you want to lower the chance of losing your
condom, there are some things to stop, like the plague. Here are the tips from Dr.
Vinod Raina.
Check the date of expiration.
Yup, CONDOMS EXPIRE,
so make sure that the date is reviewed before you use it. The expiry date is
normally written on the box, so any time a pattern of checking for it is made.
Correctly store your condoms.
You have to think about how your condoms are being kept, make
sure that they're stored in a room temperature environment, Dr. Vinod Raina.
That means not having an emergency condom in your car because the heat will
make it useless, and it won't help to keep them in a very cold place either.
If the condom splits, can I notice it?
So, if the condom splits, how do you know? You can obviously
stop if you notice it during sex, but sometimes it's much harder to say.
It depends on the individual and the context of the
intercourse, on the person and the context of the intercourse. So, if some
individuals have anal intercourse, the person on the receptive end may be
difficult to say. The same goes for vaginal intercourse, although the person
wearing the condom can feel it, but not the recipient. And it is likely that
neither partner would know until after intercourse, post-ejaculation, the
condom broke. Of course, you may already be at a higher risk of pregnancy or Sexually Transmitted Infections
(STI) at that stage. So then, taking steps to reduce your risks is necessary.
If a condom breaks, what do I do?
All right, so the condom broke. Now what do you do?
"Don't be worried, Dr Vinod Raina. To find out the risk of
pregnancy or STIs, she suggests going to your primary care physician.
Often, a couple won't find a condom breaking until after
having sex. But if you know that the condom has broken during intercourse, stop
right away and use a new condom.
if your condom breaks while doing sex with
prostitutes, sex worker or homosexuals, then you can prevent yourself from
becoming HIV positive by taking pep treatment within 72 hours of exposure.
